Brien has explored more than 90 countries but his true passion is researching and writing about the ancient megalithic works found in Peru, Bolivia, Mexico, Easter Island, Egypt, England, and beyond. He has appeared 15 times on the Ancient Aliens television series as well as numerous other TV and radio presentations. Brien’s popular Youtube channel contains more than videos related to hidden history and megalithic sites. Our operations began nearly a decade ago as a way to facilitate my longterm research into megalithic sites and ancient wisdom.

Over the years our offerings have grown to an annual series of major group tours featuring well known researchers as well as private tours with me to sites in Peru and Bolivia.

Says “these are the mysterious ruins of Puma Punku up nearly 13 thousand feet above Bolivia but we have been unable to date the stones of Puma Punku.

Puma punku is the name of a large temple complex located near Tiwanaku, in Bolivia, and is part of a larger archaeological site known as Tiahuanacu. The most intriguing thing about Puma punku is the stonework. Puma punku was a terraced earthen mound originally faced with megalithic blocks, each weighing several tens of tons.

The red sandstone and andesite stones were cut in such a precise way that they fit perfectly into and lock with each other without using mortar. The technical finesse and precision displayed in these stone blocks is astounding. Not even a razor blade can slide between the rocks. Some of these blocks are finished to ‘machine’ quality and the holes drilled to perfection.

This is supposed to have been achieved by a civilization that had no writing system and was ignorant of the existence of the wheel. Extraordinary craftsmanship is displayed in the stones. Photo credit. In assembling the walls of Puma punku, each stone was finely cut to interlock with the surrounding stones and the blocks fit together like a puzzle, forming load-bearing joints without the use of mortar.

One common engineering technique involves cutting the top of the lower stone at a certain angle, and placing another stone on top of it which was cut at the same angle. The precision with which these angles have been utilized to create flush joints is indicative of a highly sophisticated knowledge of stone-cutting and a thorough understanding of descriptive geometry.

The Non-Mystery of Pumapunku If you look at them from ruins, they’re pumapunku squarish enclosures scattered about the area. If you imagine water filling the region — let’s pretend cosmogenic high enough to cover the ground but not the enclosures themselves — then each of these “ports” would be an island unto itself, amid a sea of knee-deep water too shallow to be navigable.

That is, except for the Semi-Subterranean Temple, dating being recessed into the ground, would have been underwater. But even that imaginary scenario presumes that the puma could ever reach Tiwanaku.

Members Portal. Though some claim the stone structures at Puma Punku were alien, archaeologists find no real mysteries there. Today we’re going to climb high into the Andes and take a look at an ancient structure that has been cloaked with as much pop-culture mystery as just about any other on Earth: Puma Punku, a stone structure that’s part of the larger Tiwanaku. Puma Punku, which translates to the Doorway of the Puma, is best known for its massive stones and for the extraordinary precision of their cutting and placement.

It’s one of those places where you’ve heard, probably many times, that the stones are so closely fitted that a knife blade cannot be inserted between them. Due to these features, Puma Punku is often cited as evidence that Earth was visited by aliens, Atlanteans, or some other mythical people who are presumably better at stonemasonry than humans. Tiwanaku is in Bolivia, up in the Titicaca Basin, about 10 kilometers away from the great Lake Titicaca.

The Titicaca Basin is high; 3, meters 12, feet above sea level. Half is in Peru and half is in Bolivia, and right on the border sits Lake Titicaca. It’s in a vast region of the Andes Mountains called the Altiplano, or “high plain”, the largest such plain outside of the Himalayas. The Tiwanaku Culture predated the Inca, and their history is known largely from archaeology, since they had no written language that we know of.

The earliest evidence of habitation dates from around BC, but it wasn’t until about AD that the Tiwanaku Culture truly developed. At its peak, , people lived in and around the Tiwanaku site, centering around Puma Punku and other important structures. Trade and farming flourished.

Pumapunku or Puma Punku Aymara and Quechua puma ” cougar , puma,” punku “door”; Hispanicized Puma Puncu is part of a large temple complex or monument group that is part of the Tiwanaku Site near Tiwanaku, in western Bolivia. It is believed to date to AD and later. Tiwanaku is significant in Inca traditions because it is believed to be the site where the world was created. The Pumapunku complex consists of an unwalled western court, a central unwalled esplanade , a terraced platform mound that is faced with stone, and a walled eastern court.

At its peak, Pumapunku is thought to have been “unimaginably wondrous,” [3] adorned with polished metal plaques, brightly colored ceramic and fabric ornamentation, and visited by costumed citizens, elaborately dressed priests, and elites decked in exotic jewelry. Current understanding of this complex is limited due to its age, the lack of a written record, and the current deteriorated state of the structures due to treasure hunting, looting , stone mining for building stone and railroad ballast, and natural weathering.

Titicaca Lake Titicaca is commonly recognized as the highest navigable portal in the world there are many.

The geophysical data collected from these surveys and non-mystery have revealed the presence of numerous man-made structures in the area between the Pumapunku and Kalasasaya complexes. Researchers have worked to determine the age of the Pumapunku complex since the discovery of the Tiwanaku site. As noted by Andean specialist, W. Isbell, professor at Binghamton University , [2] a ancient date was obtained by Vranich [3] from organic material from puma lowermost and oldest punku of mound-fill forming carbon Pumapunku.

C14, calibrated date. Carbon the radiocarbon date came from the lowermost and oldest layer of mound-fill underlying the andesite and sandstone non-mystery, the stonework must have been constructed sometime after AD —. The excavation trenches of Vranich show that the clay, sand, and gravel ancient of the Pumapunku complex lie punku on the sterile middle Pleistocene sediments. These excavation trenches also demonstrated the lack of any pre-Andean Middle Horizon cultural deposits within the area of the Tiwanaku Site adjacent to the Pumapunku complex.

The largest of these stone blocks is 7. The second largest stone block found within carbon Pumapunku is 7. Its weight has been estimated to be. Smaller andesite blocks that were used for stone facing and carvings came from quarries within the Copacabana Punku about 90 kilometres 56 miles away from and across Lake Titicaca from punku Pumapunku and the rest of the Tiwanaku Site. Archaeologists argue that the transport of these stones was punku by the large labor force of ancient Tiwanaku.

Several theories have been proposed as to how this labor punku transported the stones, although these theories remain speculative.

Well, if Pumapunku is considered such good evidence for the Ancient Astronaut theory, we should probably start by looking at it. Ancient Aliens starts off with a false dilemma by making people think that it was absolutely impossible for ancient people to construct Pumapunku, even to the point of making outright false claims.

The only stone that is harder than diorite is diamond, so the only way this could have been achieved is if the tools were tipped with diamonds. Later we see Eric Von Daniken himself make the exact same, totally wrong claim. That is very incorrect, the heaviest block at Pumapunku is tons [4] , and most of the stones are much smaller than that. So he is off by a whopping tons! Unfortunately we will come to expect this kind of thing from Von Daniken as we progress.

Ancient Aliens spends quite a lot of time pointing out the various features in the stone masonry at Pumapunku before declaring it impossible to do without power tools. This was machined.
